Welcome to Organically Wasteless

Welcome to a site for the environmentally and health conscious individual. In it, you’ll find a list of foods and products that are organic and low waste – and where to find them.

I started my health and wellness journey about a year ago in July 2018. I wasn’t familiar with nutrition, and was driving about 2 hours a day for work and looking for something to fill my time. I stumbled upon an amazing podcast called The Ultimate Health Podcast hosted by Jesse Chapus and Marni Wasserman. I had no idea I was completely in the dark about food and nutrition, and this opened my eyes to many ways of thinking regarding health and wellness.

Since then, I’ve been making small changes in my life around nutrition. Believe me, I’m not anywhere close to perfect. I can still crush a pizza puff at 2:00am after a decent amount of Rose, but I’m realizing exactly how that makes me feel afterward, and doing everything in my power to put good stuff in my body 80% of the time.

In regards to my “waste less” journey, this started a few months ago. From (you guessed it) listening to yet another podcast. This one is called The Zero Waste Countdown hosted by Laura Nash. Same type of concept, she interviews experts in the environmental industry, and gives tips on recycling, wasting significantly less, composting and more. Again, totally in the dark about where our waste goes and how many things are actually covered in plastic (including fruits and veggies). So, I decided to make some small changes here and there. Not nearly as hardcore as many people, but adjusting the items I buy, how often and where.

In my search for organic items, I’ve noticed just how many are in plastic. It all started with my search for the perfect peanut butter in a glass jar. I would find a perfect peanut butter (USDA organic), but it would be in a plastic jar. Then I would find a glass jar of peanut butter, but it would be non-organic. This was super frustrating, and is when I decided to start this site.

I hope this site helps at least one person help save the environment AND themselves 🙂
